Structure Scan Training #1

StructureScan is an accessory offered for the Lowrance HDS models. It is supposed to be released in 2009. I have a test version that I have been collecting data for the website. Someday when I have more skill I will produce a DVD on the StructureScan.

I will add my reviews of the StructureScan as I learn how to use it. It is very easy to install and learn. It took me much less time to learn the menu and features of the StructureScan than the HDS. It is basically plug and play and I mean play. It interferes with fishing because of the fun of looking at structure. The side scan part was easy for me as I have been studying side scan for awhile. The down scan gives a very different look than traditional sonar as you will see in the examples.

I have a test version of the SonarViewer which plays back the StructureScan. You can also play it back in the HDS. The play back is really helpful for learning new technology. I play it back adjust the contrast, pick different colors pause and study interesting spots and I can have the map window open to see where I am on the map as the StructureScan plays back, this jogs my memory on where I was when I recorded the StructureScan.
