The THUMPER® JIG is designed with a sleek minnow head, and features a patented "thumper" belly blade that adds flash and pulsating vibration to attract fish...and provoke 'em to strike! An Eagle-Claw® Lazer-Sharp hook and specially designed "DOUBLE-BARB" bait-holding collar securely holds live bait and soft plastic trailers to make this one...the ultimate jig spinner!

"This jig also works very well under a Slip bobber on windy days for walleyes. I believe this is because of the flash from the small blade."

2/10/07 update

Doc used the Thumper Jig under a slip bobber to win the Professional Walleye Trail tournament at Ottertail, Minnesota in 2006.

Solid Electronics Mount

I finally have a solid electronics mount for the bow Lowrance 113. I have used many different mounts but they fall over when I pound waves. If they fall over without you noticing, you can damage the screen. I now use a Bert’s Custom Tackle mount that is 12 inched high. I actually had an amateur contestant in a draw tournament fall on it while pulling the anchor and it didn’t break.

I prefer my electronics high so I can read them easily and it is easier to reach the buttons on windy days.

Call Bo Bowman (734-891-1001) for product information as it is too new to view on his website.

SUSPENSION SEATS

I use Smooth Moves suspension seats because of my age and my spine. The decision on how long I will fish tournaments hopefully will be based on my desire not a painful spine. I have had minor set backs fishing tournaments because of my neck and back. Professional Walleye tournaments are brutal because of the large bodies of water we fish. I run wide open as much as I can because one minute can mean one fish and the difference between first and fifth. The Smooth Moves suspension has a shock absorber cylinder plus 4 sets of springs. You can adjust the tension so you never "bottom out".

MAV (Aqua-Vu)

I learned from the Aqua-Vu that I don’t always interpret the sonar correctly and now I can evaluate the mysterious marks on the sonar display that I used to say “What’s that?” Open water use of a camera requires 2 operators, one for the trolling motor and one for the camera. I fish alone often and now I can drop the MAV camera quickly when I am fishing from the bow to evaluate what the sonar is “seeing” and keep fishing. This is not possible with a regular Aqua-Vu. The MAV retracts quickly with the foot pedal so you can lower and raise it when the bottom changes depth. The screen is sunlight viewable. If you look closely at my bow photo you can see some small rocks on the Aqua-Vu screen. No more peeking into a tunnel to see what the camera “sees”.
