DrDepth
Bathymetric (depth contour) maps from LakeMaster, Navionics, and Lowrance that display in your GPS have shown us a different picture of the lake. Now when you are on water that has no quality maps you can create your own easily. You can collect the data using the Lowrance log chart feature, Humminbird trails, a Pocket PC, or a laptop. DrDepth will open that data to create maps. The easiest method is with a Lowrance LCX/LMS/HDS GPS/sonar model and a SD card. You record the chart data to the SD card and DrDepth will import that file to create maps. You can go back to the lake and record more data and add it easily.
If you want to map a small lake you can use Google Earth to create a shoreline that DrDepth imports.
DrDepth BT Edition
This is a new edition of DrDepth. A new function has been added that takes the bottom hardness information from a Lowrance SLG file and creates a bottom hardness map. This a great tool for showing bottom transitions of points, humps and flats. You have many choices of colors to use for hardness. I prefer the Lowrance default color settings. Yellow-hardest bottom, red-softer, and blue–softest. The BT Edition will not work with other sonar/GPS models other than Lowrance/Eagle recording models. The Lowrance SLG files are the only files DrDepth can retrieve bottom hardness from at this time. |
